The Opportunity

BlueScope Distribution is looking for a Customer Service Officer to join the Customer Service Team (initially on a 12-month fixed-term contract), based in Westall, VIC. BlueScope Distribution provides product, processing, and service solutions in steel and aluminium. The business supports customers across various industries, helping deliver projects on time and to specification. We support our customers by helping them focus on their core activities.

As a Customer Service Officer, you will be the face of BlueScope for our customers, ensuring exceptional service in each interaction. Working within a friendly and inclusive team, you will be a key contact for sales and service inquiries. Your can-do attitude will be evident as you take new orders and quotations, provide product and pricing advice, and manage daily inquiries. With strong leadership support, you will have opportunities to develop your career in customer service and sales.

The working hours are 9 am – 5 pm.

What Will You Do?

As a key customer service representative, you will:

• Interact with customers via phone and email, managing quotes and queries, including serving as the internal contact for key accounts.
• Follow-up on quotations and inquiries, converting them into sales opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as marketing, warehouse, and sales to meet customer expectations, including product specifications, special packaging, and delivery schedules.
• Nurture and grow customer relationships to identify new business and sales opportunities.
• Continuously seek ways to improve the customer experience and enhance the overall value proposition.

More About You

While experience in the steel industry is not essential, a strong customer focus and a willingness to learn are important. You will bring:

• Experience in a customer service environment.
• High attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence in resolving issues effectively.
• A proactive approach to building relationships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn our systems, including SAP (expertise in SAP is highly regarded).
