Griffith University sites are on lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh, and Kombumerri peoples.

Job Description

We seek a PhD candidate to develop a spatial decision-support tool to autonomously identify optimal OHRES sites. The primary focus is a GIS-based decision-support tool for energy planners and system managers to analyze spatial and analytical results. This desk-based project requires collaboration with industry partners and the Blue Economy CRC. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team within the Blue Economy CRC's Offshore Renewable Energy Systems program.

Qualifications

We seek a motivated PhD candidate to develop a GIS-based multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model for Offshore Hybrid (wind, wave, solar) Renewable Energy Systems. Selection considers academic merit and research background.

  • Expressions of interest are welcome from domestic and international applicants.
  • Applicants must have completed, or expect to complete, a bachelor's degree with honours (second/division A) or a Master's degree (AQF Level 9) with significant research, or an equivalent qualification recognized by Griffith University.

International applicants must meet English proficiency requirements, such as:

  • IELTS: Overall band of 6.5, no band less than 6.0
  • TOEFL Paper-based: Minimum score of 575 with TWE ≥ 5.0
  • TOEFL iBT: Minimum score of 79 with sub-scores ≥ 19
Additional Information

Scholarship details: Annual stipend of $38,500 (indexed) for up to 3.5 years of full-time study. International students will also be awarded a Griffith University International Postgraduate Research Scholarship covering tuition fees.
