Senior Manager, Operational Risk

As the Senior Manager of Operational Risk, you will support the business by providing second line oversight and challenge to ensure active management, escalation, and resolution of risks in accordance with our risk management framework. You will collaborate with senior leaders across business, technology, and risk functions to manage BAU risks and major projects or change initiatives.

This position is available in Brisbane and Sydney, offering flexibility to work from home two days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, review, and deliver operational risk assurance, overseeing controls to align with strategy, business outcomes, and APRA Prudential Standards.
  • Oversee control design, implementation, recurring risk and control reviews, resilience assurance, and support APRA notifications or consultations.
  • Assist in designing, implementing, and executing a tailored Operational Risk Management Framework, including incident and issue management, controls assessment, independent assurance, and advisory reviews.
  • Represent the second line of risk on relevant forums, risk committees, project groups, and steering committees.
  • Prepare reports to support decision-making at key forums.
  • Provide second line challenge and oversight on operational risk and governance frameworks.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in risk management roles.
  • Experience working with business management, operational risk, technology risk, and project or process management within financial services or related sectors, including consultancy or audit at a management level.
  • Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders internally and externally to meet diverse priorities and expectations.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to communicate risk management practices effectively.
  • Knowledge of financial services regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strategic thinking with a solution-oriented approach to risk issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
