OverviewThe Working with Children Check and Information Sharing Services (WISS) team shares Child Protection information held by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) in response to requests from the Department of Government Services (DGS). Requests support the assessment and determination of applications and re-assessments of Working with Children Checks (WWCC) and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Checks. WISS provides specialist advice on WWCC practice, operations and policy issues regarding WWCC and kinship care, coordinates the statewide approach to WWCC compliance, and triages WWCC adverse notices for kinship carers and household members. WISS works with the divisional Working with Children Coordinators and provides necessary support and guidance to them.
Responsibilities- Reporting to the Team Leader, the Program Advisor will be responsible for completing requests for information, triaging and providing advice on WWC Check notices (e.g., prohibition, suspension, interim/WWC exclusion, and revocation) for kinship carers engaged by the department, and responding to general inquiries.
- Provide wide-ranging support functions within the Working with Children Check and Information Service, including preparing responses to Requests for Information, providing support and advice to key stakeholders, and undertaking day-to-day administrative functions.
- Provide advice and reasoned recommendations to internal and external stakeholders on highly complex and sensitive issues.
- Prepare high-quality written materials including briefings and correspondence.
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents or hold a valid work permit or visa. Work eligibility will be checked as part of the recruitment process.
- Preferred candidates will be required to complete pre-employment screening, including a national police check and misconduct screening.
