We are seeking to establish a pool of Home Economics Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Under teacher direction, the Home Economic Assistant will assist in the delivery of planned education programs, operation of computers and implementation of individual or small group programs. You will ideally also assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials, and resources for use in classes, displays and demonstrations, and assist the Teacher with clean and safe storage of items after classes and activities.

As Home Economics Assistant, the successful applicant should have a proactive and positive approach to the role and be able to work well autonomously as well as part of a team. You should also be able to prioritise tasks well, display initiative and be highly organised and efficient.

• obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and

  • Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to liaise with students, teachers, parents, and professional staff on the provision of educational programs.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs to students.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist teachers in implementing education programs.
