About the Role
The Environmental Operations branch manages Councils' environmental and recreational assets and collaborates with the community to preserve biodiversity. The branch liaises with various units and the community to deliver high-quality environmental outcomes.
Conservation Partnerships Officers support private landowners through programs like Voluntary Conservation Agreements, Land for Wildlife, and Landholder Environment Grants. They also provide professional environmental advice to Council Officers, Councillors, and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate understanding of the ecology of the Sunshine Coast, including flora and fauna identification and threat management.
- Manage projects effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide sound environmental advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement the Land for Wildlife Program and associated incentives, member events, and ensure compliance with guidelines.
- Implement Conservation Agreements and Grants programs in line with policies and safety requirements.
About You
You should have a sound knowledge of the Sunshine Coast's ecosystems, flora, fauna, and threats to biodiversity. Strong communication and project management skills are essential, as is the ability to negotiate with private landholders.
A tertiary qualification in Environmental Sciences or equivalent experience is required. Appointment is subject to a pre-employment medical assessment.
