Job Description

The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Control Officer to join our client's citrus harvest team in Emerald, QLD. This role is vital for maintaining high standards of fruit quality during the harvest season. Responsibilities include conducting field inspections, assessing fruit condition, monitoring picker performance, and communicating findings to ensure quality from orchard to packing shed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular field inspections across citrus blocks during harvest
  • Assess fruit quality based on size, colour, blemishes, ripeness, and signs of damage or disease
  • Monitor picker performance and ensure proper handling and selection of fruit
  • Record and report quality data accurately and promptly
  • Communicate non-compliance or quality issues to Harvest Supervisors and assist with corrective actions
  • Provide on-the-spot feedback and training to pickers as needed
  • Coordinate with logistics and packing shed teams to ensure quality consistency
  • Identify and report pest, disease, or environmental concerns observed during inspections
  • Safely operate farm vehicles to drive between orchard blocks
  • Maintain all necessary records and reports for farm management
