About the role

Reporting to the National Head of Student Matters in the National School of Medicine you will be responsible for the KCRMT students.You will act as the key liaison between medical students and the School of Medicine to achieve optimal financial, social, and cultural outcomes.Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pastoral care and oversee student support, addressing the different factors, which may be impacting their academic progress; triaging and referral to support services (internal and external) as appropriate.
  • Facilitate effective and formal liaison between students and the School, including the relationship with student associations; facilitate student access to Student Services, academic and other support services.
  • Advise the National Head of Student Matters in relation to student issues including requests for transfer into, from or within the School, applications for extended leave, and other matters related to student welfare, progress or fitness to practice; student breaches of the Code of Conduct and disciplinary matters and maintenance of secure confidential School records.
  • Liaise between the relevant educational academics and the National Head of Student Matters, in relation to matters regarding student welfare.
  • Work with the Student Matters Coordinators across campuses and National Head of Student Matters to provide back up and support.
  • Participate in National selection processes.
  • Provide teaching into the program.
  • Support and contribute to relevant research and scholarship, including pastoral care, the student experience and student selection.
  • Participate in relevant School committees.
  • Assist with the development of and engagement with the School's Alumni.
  • Participate in information events, orientation, enrolment and other events and functions related to students, and pastoral care.
Qualifications, skills & experience

Level B (Lecturer)

A Level B Academic Employee is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution and to carry out activities to maintain and develop their scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline. A Level B Academic Employee will have qualifications and/or experience recognised by the institution as appropriate for the relevant discipline area. In many cases a position at this level will require a doctoral or masters qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing. In determining experience relative to qualifications, regard is had to teaching experience, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contributions and/or technical achievement

  • Possession of a Medical, Clinical Psychology or other health discipline degree.
  • Proven ability to manage complex personal and professional issues and provide high quality pastoral care.
  • Experience in teaching at master's level or higher, or in medical, health or professional practice-based education setting (desirable).
  • Highly effective communication and negotiating skills.
  • High level organisation and management skills.
  • Proficiency with technology and learning and teaching programs.

Level C (Senior Lecturer)

A Level C Academic Employee is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of a department, school, faculty or other organisational unit or an interdisciplinary area. An Academic at this levelis also expected to play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities. A Level C Academic Employee will normally have advanced qualifications and/or recognised significant experience in the relevant discipline area. A position at this level will normally require a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing. In determining experience relative to qualifications, regard will be had to teaching experience, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contributions and/or technical achievement. In addition, a position at this level will normally require a record of demonstrable scholarly and professional achievement in the relevant discipline area.
