
Communications Officer

Public Sector People have partnered with a local council in Sydney to recruit for a Communications Officer for a 9 month contract with the potential for extension.
In this contract role, you'll play a vital role in developing and implementing strategic communications plans. You'll be responsible for managing media enquiries, crafting engaging content for a variety of audiences, and ensuring clear and consistent messaging across all channels.
Responsibilities- Drafting high-quality media releases, press kits, and other communications materials
- Managing media enquiries and fostering positive relationships with journalists
- Developing and implementing engaging content for digital and traditional media platforms
- Conceive, develop, implement and critically assess communications and marketing plans
- Proactively identifying and crafting stories that showcase the organisation's services and achievements
- Contributing to the development and implementation of communication strategies
- Liaising with internal stakeholders across various departments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to tailor your message to diverse audiences
- Demonstrated experience in media relations and public relations
- Experience working in local government
- Experience developing and delivering communication campaigns across multiple channels, including digital and traditional media
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines efficiently
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team
- Work on projects that make a real difference to the local community
- Contribute to a dynamic and supportive work environment
