About New Norcia ground station (WA)
New Norcia Deep Space Tracking Facility has been in operation since 2003 and is one of the three stations in the European Space Agency's Estrack network. The station currently has a 35-metre and a 4.5-metre antenna, with a second 35-metre, NNO-3, to be commissioned this year. As part of our expansion, we are seeking enthusiastic candidates who are willing to learn, to add to our capabilities and to embark on a rewarding career in the space industry.

The expansion of our New Norcia Deep Space Tracking Facility has opened up doors for a seasoned technician, an aspiring engineer, or just a newbie starting out after high school to contribute to cutting-edge missions that reach far beyond Earth.

We're on the lookout for passionate and talented individuals ready to strengthen the operations of our specialised station by being a part of the critical day to day maintenance and providing support with logistics and engaging with colleagues in Europe at the ESA headquarters, while working closely with the systems for configuration and asset management for the station.
We are particularly interested in applicants who are keen to demonstrate and/or develop their technical aptitude in either mechanical or electronics and enthusiastic to join and build a career in the space industry.

Your duties will include (varies depending on your role):
Join a dedicated team where you'll contribute to vital technical and operational duties tailored to your skill level. Whether you're experienced or just starting out, comprehensive training and support will be provided to help you succeed.
- Technical and maintenance support - Perform supervised technical tasks like maintenance on IT, RF, and electronic systems, including working at heights on antennas.
- Installation assistance - Help with cable, fibre, and electronics installations as needed.
- Operational reliability - Deliver high-quality work during time-critical maintenance periods to ensure station readiness.
- Launcher involvement - Contribute to rocket launcher activities, occasionally outside normal hours.
- Logistics coordination - Support shipment operations between New Norcia and European counterparts.
- Documentation development - Assist in creating technical manuals, safe work procedures, and quality system documents.
Role particulars
Location and office arrangements:
- New Norcia Ground Station, Western Australia
- Shared pool of vehicles available to commute between Perth and New Norcia
- Relocation support to be provided for new starters moving within Western Australia
Salary: AU$67,026 – AU$96,811 per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 15.4% superannuation (+ any additional allowances as applicable e.g $10K per annum site allowance is given in addition to base salary - pro-rata if part time). Salary level will be dependent on level of experience.
Tenure & work schedule:
- 5 roles available with a 5 year specified term tenure for each position
- Flexible working options available with roles being offered on a full-time, part-time or job share basis. This can be discussed based on individual circumstances and needs of the role.

As the successful candidate, you will bring:
Essential criteria
- Relevant Qualifications : Certificate of year 12 high school education.
- Additional Qualifications : Applicants with completed or significant progress towards trade qualifications, diploma or bachelor's degree qualifications in relevant technical fields such as engineering, IT or science may be eligible for appointment at higher grades.
- Experience: Applicants with significant STEM experience may be appointed to higher grades.
Desirable criteria
- Skillset: Aptitude in Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths fields.
- Installation Activities : Experience in installation activities and maintenance of cabling and optical fibre, or electronics equipment.
- Working on Structures: Ability and desire to work at heights.
- A general commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing at the workplace.
