Overview

$98,944 - $128,013 + Super + Salary Packaging. Indie School is seeking primary or secondary school-trained registered teachers passionate about reengaging students with learning, who can maintain boundaries and contribute to a culture of inclusivity and belonging. We welcome graduates through to highly experienced teachers to commence Term 1, 2026 at our Geelong, Gheringhap campus.

Indie School provides students with the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment using individualised learning plans tailored to each student's education and life circumstances. Smaller class sizes offer more opportunities for students to identify strengths and build confidence.

Our schools operate in areas of socio-economic disadvantage, working with students who have found it difficult to engage with mainstream education. Our aim is to reengage students with learning, improve literacy and numeracy, and focus on each student's next step: return to mainstream, pursue a TAFE/RTO pathway, or enter the workforce.

  • Prepare and deliver programs in line with the appropriate curriculum.
  • Enhance classroom effectiveness through professional engagement to achieve improved teaching and learning standards.
  • Use time and resources effectively to deliver lessons aligned to students' individual learning and pathway plans.
  • Promote the school's alternative education and strengths-based model to achieve student goals and outcomes with a focus on changing the lives of young people.
Workplace Tasking & Key Responsibilities

Teaching duties align to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Key duties may include:

  • Write curriculum with adjustments for students (understanding of the Victorian Curriculum; knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum F-10 is highly regarded).
  • Plan, write and deliver structured lessons that differentiate and personalise learning for each student.
  • Embed best-practice pedagogy into lesson plans to engage students.
  • Collaborate in a small team to implement feedback.
  • Participate in coaching and mentoring programs.
  • Support students with a range of learning needs, including disabilities, behavioural disturbances, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, low literacy/numeracy, and mental illness. Personalise learning for individual students pursuant to the levels of adjustment of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD).
  • Collaborate to write Individual Learning Plans for all students and embed strategies in lessons to support student needs.
  • Provide timely, specific feedback to support learning growth (formative assessment).
  • Assess and report student achievement and progress.
  • Behaviour management with understanding of trauma-informed practice or willingness to gain this knowledge.
  • Build positive relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Support students to experience success.

For this position, applicants must be willing and able to provide:

  • A National Police Check issued within the three months prior to the offer, and annually thereafter.
  • Hold a current VIT registration.

Remuneration
  • Level 12–Level 18 (AWCC Enterprise Agreement : $98,944 - $128,013 plus super, based on training and experience.
