Geelong, Victoria, Australia Indie School Full time

$98,944 - $128,013 + Super + Salary Packaging

Know how to make learning fun while maintaining boundaries? Love contributing to a culture of inclusivity and a sense of belonging? Crave smaller class sizes, manageable hours and generous remuneration? If this is you and you are a primary or secondary school-trained registered teacher passionate about re-engaging students with learning, we'd like to meet you. Due to some Parental Leave, in the team, we have two (2) vacant positions (for a fixed-term) at our Geelong campus. Graduates through to highly experienced teachers are welcome to apply.

Indie School provides students the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment using individualised learning and education plans tailored to each student's own education and life circumstances. Smaller class sizes allow students greater opportunity to identify their strengths and work to improve areas in which they lack confidence.

The greatest difference between Indie School and many other alternative education settings is that our foundations lie in Adult Education philosophies. Choice, independence, mutual respect and accountability all have a significant role to play. In return for higher levels of self-responsibility, the students can enjoy some greater freedoms.

Our schools are located in areas of socio-economic disadvantage, and we work with students who have found it difficult to engage with mainstream education for a variety of reasons. Our aim is to re-engage students with learning, improve literacy and numeracy skills and focus on the next step in the learning journey for each student: be that a desire to return to mainstream, pursue a TAFE/RTO pathway or to get ready for the workforce.

The roles are to commence in January 2026 and end in December 2026.

Core Workplace Objectives
  • Preparation and delivery of programs in line with appropriate curriculum.
  • Enhancing effectiveness in the classroom through improved teacher knowledge, practice and professional engagement in order to achieve improved standards of teaching and learning.
  • Ensuring the most effective use of time and resources in the delivery of classes aligned to students' individual learning and pathways plans.
  • Promoting the school's alternative educational and strengths based model to ensure student goals and personal outcomes are achieved with the focus on "Changing the Lives of Young People"
Workplace Tasking & Key Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively in a small team to implement feedback.
