Senior Laboratory Production Scientist
About Us
Australian Scientific Enterprise (ASE) is a leader in clinical pathology diagnostics, manufacturing Quality Control (QC) and External Quality Assurance (EQA) materials that support pathology laboratories worldwide. Our commitment to healthcare advancement is demonstrated through our focus on research, development, and innovation in both in vitro diagnostics (IVDs) and bespoke contract projects. ASE offers a collaborative environment, fostering long-term professional growth and a commitment to high-quality, impactful work.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Laboratory Production Scientist to lead our production team and drive the development of new QC materials. This senior role is key to ensuring the quality, efficiency, and innovation in our production processes, while also mentoring and supporting junior scientists in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leadership and Mentorship: Leading a team of laboratory scientists, providing training, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Research and Development: Driving innovation in the development of novel QC materials, including planning, pilot work, and transitioning successful prototypes to full production.
- Advanced Project Coordination: Managing complex contract-production projects, maintaining clear communication with clients, coordinating with suppliers, and overseeing the entire production process from start to finish.
- Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Serving as the primary technical support for both production and post-production testing, providing hands-on guidance and troubleshooting complex issues as they arise.
- Quality Control and Production Oversight: Overseeing precise laboratory production processes—such as blood fractionation, pH adjustments, and analytical balance usage—to ensure all procedures align with ASE's high standards.
This full-time, permanent position is located in Hornsby, NSW. Standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am – 4 pm.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for a seasoned scientist with substantial experience in laboratory production, quality control, and product development who excels in a leadership role. Ideal candidates will bring:
- A degree in Biomedical Science or a related field, paired with several years of experience in pathology (biochemistry, endocrinology) or the IVD industry.
- Proven expertise in laboratory production techniques and extensive experience in post-production testing and troubleshooting.
- Strong leadership skills, including demonstrated experience in training, mentoring, and supporting a team.
- High attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
Experience with large-scale manufacturing of quality control materials is advantageous, as is a hands-on approach to innovation and troubleshooting in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Why Join Us?
ASE is an industry leader offering senior scientists a unique opportunity to lead and innovate in a high-impact sector. This role provides the chance to develop professionally while making a meaningful contribution to healthcare diagnostics.
Application Process
If you're ready to advance your career, lead a talented team, and drive innovation in diagnostic production, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your CV and a Cover Letter detailing your experience and vision for the role.
Note: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
