Hunter Recyclers Pty Ltd is a locally owned and operated scrap metal recycling company with over 40 years of experience servicing the Newcastle and Hunter Valley region. We specialise in sorting, processing, and recycling ferrous and non-ferrous metals in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Yard Hand to join our team. The successful applicant will be hands-on in the day-to-day operations of our recycling yard, including sorting and upgrading metals, maintaining machinery, and assisting with scrap purchasing and sales. This role is ideal for someone physically fit, hardworking, and eager to grow their skills within the recycling industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort and upgrade ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Assist with purchasing and selling scrap metals.
  • Daily yard cleaning and general upkeep.
  • Washing and performing basic daily maintenance on plant machinery.
  • Safe lifting and manual handling of heavy objects.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Operate forklifts and other machinery as required.
  • Follow all workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative team environment.

Requirements

  • Current HR Driver's License (or willingness to obtain upon employment).
  • Current Forklift License (preferred).
  • Previous experience or basic knowledge of the scrap metal industry is an advantage.
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual labour.
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to self-improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety conscious.
