Overview

Perth Airport is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Design Manager - Civil to lead the design and documentation of civil infrastructure projects across Perth Airport, from airfield pavements to roadworks, car parks to landside developments. This role focuses on technical excellence, cost efficiency, and alignment with strategic goals.

What you'll do

As our Design Manager - Civil, you'll lead every phase of the design journey and collaborate with internal teams, consultants and stakeholders to shape smart, sustainable solutions. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Managing design contracts and reviewing technical outputs.
  • Coordinating regulatory inputs and driving continuous improvement.
  • Advocating safety in design and overseeing risk controls.
  • Supporting smooth project handovers into construction.
  • Delivering infrastructure that's built to last and ready for the future.
About you

You're a strategic thinker with a passion for infrastructure that makes a real impact. To thrive in this role, you'll bring:

  • A degree in civil engineering, design, or project management—or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • A strong background in leading design phases for infrastructure projects with a focus on cost, timelines and risk.
  • Experience steering multi-disciplinary teams and integrating stakeholder needs into practical design outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of design workflows and adaptability to shifting project demands.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles in roadworks, earthworks, drainage, services and airfield pavements (desirable).
  • Experience sourcing and managing external consultants across engineering, costing, and design.
  • Competence with Aconex, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with 3D modelling platforms (Revit, MicroStation, Navisworks, Tekla).
  • Collaborative, detail-focused mindset with proactive problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Significant experience in a similar role within large-scale projects, construction, or mining.
  • White Card and a current Australian driver's licence.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to convey clear messaging and coordinate with stakeholders.
