ABC Care, located in Cairns, QLD, is a registered NDIS and Home Care provider committed to empowering individuals with disabilities and enhancing the well-being of diverse communities through inclusive, person-centred aged care and disability services. We are seeking a full-time Aged or Disability Carer to join our team in this mission.

Responsibilities of the Role

Core Daily Support:

  • Offer compassionate personal care assistance, including help with dressing, bathing, and toileting.
  • Assist with essential daily tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, and other household duties.
  • Provide support with personal hygiene needs, including bathing and dressing, as required by the client.
  • Administer prescribed medications meticulously, adhering to schedules and maintaining precise documentation.

Promoting Well-being and Independence:

  • Facilitate healthy lifestyle choices by assisting clients with grocery shopping, meal preparation, and promoting nutritious eating habits.
  • Empower clients by fostering the development of new life skills, covering areas like budgeting, employment readiness, and self-care practices.
  • Support clients in pursuing new interests and hobbies, actively enhancing their overall quality of life.
  • Enable community participation and independence by transporting and accompanying clients to appointments and social activities.

Collaborative and Adaptive Care:

  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, including doctors and therapists, to ensure comprehensive and integrated client care.
  • Adapt communication and body language techniques to meet the unique needs of each individual client, ensuring their comfort and understanding.

To be successful in the role you must have:

  • Full legal working rights within Australia.
  • A personal motor vehicle with current third-party car insurance is mandatory for transporting participants. A valid Driver's License is preferred.
  • Hold a Yellow Card or be willing to apply.
  • Hold a Blue Card or be willing to apply.
  • Excellent availability, including the capacity to work weekends and nights, is crucial.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate 3 or above in community services or individual support and at least 1 year of experience.
  • A strong understanding of Asian Culture and Cultural Practices.
  • Experience in a similar role is highly advantageous.
