Come Work With Us An exciting opportunity to join South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. The Sutherland Hospital is now recruiting an After Hours Nurse Manager (AHNM). The vision for nursing and midwifery at The Sutherland Hospital is to build a united team that provides compassionate care through transformational, supportive and holistic nursing and midwifery.
The After Hours Nurse Manager (AHNM) is a senior nurse responsible for the overall management of the facility outside of business hours. This includes the operational management of patient access and care coordination, and monitoring associated KPI targets such as Emergency Treatment Performance (ETP) and Transfer of Care (TOC). The AHNM will manage all significant events outside of business hours in consultation with the nominated Executive rostered on-call. The AHNM has responsibility for the nursing and support staff after hours including skill mix, monitoring and replacement of unplanned shifts and Health Work & Safety responsibilities. The AHNM works with the Patient Flow Co-Coordinator to progress nurse-led strategy and practice improvement through a practice development approach.

Responsibilities- Provide overall management of the facility outside of business hours, including operational management of patient access and care coordination.
- Monitor KPI targets such as Emergency Treatment Performance (ETP) and Transfer of Care (TOC).
- Lead management of significant after-hours events in consultation with the on-call Executive.
- Manage nursing and support staff after hours, optimize skill mix, and ensure health and safety responsibilities are met.
- Collaborate with the Patient Flow Co-Coordinator and support nurse-led strategy and practice improvement through a practice development approach.
- Up to 12 allocated days off each year (for full-time employees) in addition to annual leave.

- Potential personal regrade to Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 1 where relevant.
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Recognised tertiary management qualifications or working towards same, with evidence of recent professional development to enhance leadership and management competencies.
- Demonstrated experience in change management with measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership and senior management experience in a complex health care environment.
- Recent broad clinical, operational and strategic experience at a senior level within a health care setting.
- Strong verbal, written and negotiation skills; ability to use information technology platforms and produce clear plans and reports.
- Understanding of Ministry of Health strategic directions, quality and safety framework, and the Nursing & Midwifery agenda.
- Knowledge of current clinical practice, models of care, and ability to motivate and lead staff to achieve service and professional goals.
