Lead a Trusted Local Team: Operations Manager at AutoSparky
It's 7:30am in Alice Springs. The Autosparky team is already on-site, vehicles are being checked in, and tools are in hand. You start the day with a quick check of the schedule, a walkthrough of the workshop, and a friendly check-in with the team. Everyone knows what they're doing—and you're here to keep things moving smoothly.
By mid-morning, you're confirming part deliveries, supporting a technician with a technical question, and following up with a long-time client whose fleet maintenance has been a mainstay of the business. You liaise with the admin team to ensure invoicing is accurate and timely, and your weekly performance report is already drafted, ready for a quick update before sending it to the owners.
The team looks to you for leadership, and the owners trust you to handle the day-to-day so they can focus on the next chapter of growth. You lead with a calm presence, clear expectations, and the kind of operational discipline that keeps standards high and customers coming back.

Since 2012, AutoSparky has been serving the Alice Springs community with dependable, high-quality auto-electrical, air-conditioning, and sound system installation and repair services. As Operations Manager, you'll take responsibility for overseeing all aspects of the workshop and admin functions. This includes workflow planning, customer service, safety, compliance, team leadership, and reporting.
Your role is key to ensuring the business delivers consistently high standards in both workmanship and service. With the right person in this role, the owners will be able to step back from daily operations and invest more fully in the business's growth and long-term strategy.

What a Day Might Look Like
- You start the day ensuring the workshop floor is set, jobs are assigned, and the schedule is clear.
- You troubleshoot where needed, provide support, and ensure smooth communication between admin and workshop.
- You follow up with clients, maintain supplier relationships, and keep an eye on parts, performance, and progress.
- You prepare a clear summary for the owners on what's working well, where improvements are being made, and what's ahead.
- You leave each day knowing the team feels supported, the customers are satisfied, and the business is in good hands.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Manage daily workflow across the workshop and admin teams.
- Monitor operations, address issues early, and keep everything moving on schedule.
- Maintain clean, organised, and efficient workspaces.
- Lead reporting on productivity, job completion, and service delivery.
Team Development
- Set clear expectations and create an environment where people can do their best work.
- Provide on-the-floor support and mentoring, particularly for developing team members.
- Build and maintain a team culture grounded in professionalism, pride, and mutual respect.
Client & Supplier Relationships
- Handle client enquiries, job updates, and service issues with clarity and care.
- Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Represent the business with professionalism and accountability.
Systems, Safety & Reporting
- Lead safety and compliance efforts, including regular audits and toolbox talks.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, reduce delays, and elevate performance.
- Provide consistent operational reporting to the owners.
What You'll Bring
- Experience running or managing a service-based, workshop-style business.
- A strong understanding of mechanical or auto-electrical work environments.
- Team leadership skills, with a practical, down-to-earth communication style.
- High levels of organisation and the ability to balance detail with big-picture thinking.
- A focus on consistency, quality, and service.
- Confidence managing systems, schedules, and people with equal ease.
