The Close Observation Unit (COU) at the Mersey Community Hospital is a 6 bed Level 2 COU, providing level 2 Critical care and High Acuity services to the North west region of Tasmania. The Role: Under the general supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) and/or the Department Manager, the Hospital Aides will:
- Plan and prioritise daily workload to ensure readiness of beds and bed space for new admissions.
- Maintain ward stock on a daily basis to ensure smooth running of ward area in accordance with existing procedures.
- Follow cleaning standards, infection control standards, policies and protocols in accordance with hospital requirements.
- Report unsafe practices or acts that may endanger occupants/visitors to the hospital.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Champion a child safe culture that upholds the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. Details of appointmentPermanent, part time, shift worker position, working up to 36 hours per fortnight, commencing from 14 September 2025.
Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant.
Salary and benefitsSalary: $57,130 to $62,486 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2022.
