We're looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Design Assistant to join our Fashion Apparel team.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Design Assistant, you'll support the team with both creative and administrative tasks, including:

Production & Sample Management:

  • Communicate changes internally, keeping the change register updated
  • Assist with lap dip process for fabrics to ensure accurate color matching
  • Assist with print strike-off requests, ensuring high-quality print approvals
  • Manage samples arriving from suppliers, salesmen, and for photoshoots
  • Organize and track marketing samples for campaigns and e-commerce shoots
  • Keep showroom and sample areas organized and up to date

Creative & Design Support:

  • Assist the design team from concept to final product
  • Create technical flat drawings and specification sheets
  • Work on print repeats and textile designs aligning with Black Pepper's brand identity
  • Stay ahead of fashion trends and provide inspiration for new collections

Administrative & Logistics Support:

  • Prepare and send parcels to China, ensuring smooth logistics
  • Maintain organized and current files
  • Ensure CAD updates are completed accurately and on time
  • Support additional design projects and admin tasks as needed

What You'll Bring to the Role

  • Formal qualification in Fashion Design (preferred but not essential)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop
  • Experience in a similar fashion or retail design role
  • A keen eye for textiles, garment construction, and product development
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills and team collaboration ability
  • Proactive attitude with problem-solving skills
  • Team player with a positive mindset
