JOB DESCRIPTION

Your role at St John of God Berwick Hospital

Your role will provide reception and switchboard support and work closely with hospital caregivers to ensure all patients admitted to St John of God Health Care have adequate health cover and are provided with informed financial consent.

Joining the Patient Services Department, you will be responsible for acting as a key contact point for patients, clinicians, practice managers, and health funds regarding a patient's pre-admission, admission, discharge, and billing, including debtors follow-up as required. This includes reviewing eligibility, consent, and personal details related to the patients' admission.

The Position
  • Provide high-quality reception, switchboard, and clerical support as required.
  • Process Patient Admissions and Discharge information in accordance with procedures.
  • Receive payments from patients, e.g., credit card payments on admission.
  • Resolve patient queries regarding their coverage at the admission centre, phone, ward, and other hospital areas.
  • Contact health funds to discuss and clarify a patient's level of cover.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Health Information and Inpatient Administration Manager.
  • Address patient queries regarding their level of cover and out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Ensure maintenance of accurate and current information within the Patient Administration systems.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to hospital staff, patients, families, and medical personnel.

To succeed, you should have experience with hospital patient administration systems and be available to work shifts scheduled between 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday to Sunday, across two locations: Berwick Kangan Drive & Langmore Centre.

  • Salary: $37.22 to $38.27 per hour (includes casual 25% loading) plus 11.5% superannuation.
