The Opportunity

Our Perioperative Leadership Team is seeking motivated individuals to work in a dynamic and fulfilling role as a Theatre Orderly within our busy perioperative team. This role is suitable for someone with some Orderly experience, especially in theatres. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Facilitating Operating Theatre setup, including equipment and operating table preparation prior to and between cases
  2. Positioning and transferring patients on the Operating Table
  3. Cleaning the Operating Theatre between cases
  4. Transporting patients between DSU / Theatre / PACU
  5. Stocking and managing linen, fluids, and other items needed for the Operating Theatres
  6. Removing Operating Department rubbish and used linen to the waste management area
  7. Organising the ordering and retrieval of VMO meals for the day

Peninsula Private is a 70-bed acute and rehabilitation hospital with 3 operating theatres located on the idyllic Redcliffe Peninsula. Specialties include orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, gynaecology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, and internal medicine, along with leading rehabilitation services and programs on the Brisbane northside.

About You

You will be a resilient individual with a good understanding of the healthcare environment, preferably related to perioperative care, or willing to develop this. You will have excellent understanding of WH&S, be focused on providing an efficient and safe shift, and be able to respond calmly to operational changes. Training will be provided for those without prior theatre orderlies experience. To succeed, you should:

  1. Have great communication skills to foster a friendly environment for patients
  2. Possess sound knowledge of WH&S and physical capability to perform the role
  3. Have some Orderly experience, preferably in busy theatres
  4. Commit to our Safe Values
  5. Have excellent time management skills
  6. Be adaptable to changing priorities and flexible
  7. Be a supportive and engaging team member
