Senior Economic Development Officer – Banyule City Council

What You'll Do:

  1. Cultivate strong relationships with local businesses, Traders Associations, and stakeholders to accelerate growth in Banyule.
  2. Lead a small, dynamic team to manage the Council's Special Rate & Charge Scheme and roll out impactful economic initiatives that boost growth and inclusion.
  3. Take on a strategic role in the Inclusive Enterprise & Local Economy team, driving inclusive opportunities and programs that fuel growth, job creation, and equitable access to economic benefits.
  4. Build impactful relationships, working together to unlock new business opportunities, strengthening the community's growth and resilience.
  5. Identify cutting-edge opportunities for innovation in local economic initiatives and inclusive enterprise, ensuring Banyule stays at the forefront of inclusive economic growth and opportunity.

What you'll bring:

  1. Extensive relevant experience or a tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
  2. Strong understanding of the key drivers of economic growth and the role of local government in shaping local economic conditions.
  3. Proven ability to build and manage relationships, influencing and negotiating successful outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Good understanding of the challenges faced by small businesses, Traders Associations and home-based business.
  5. Demonstrated success in leading and implementing economic initiatives that attract investment, create jobs, and drive growth, including the preparation of business cases and securing funding.
  6. Experience leading teams, providing performance feedback, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture. Ability to coach and empower team members to achieve Council objectives.
  7. Commitment to integrating inclusivity into economic development practices, ensuring equitable access to opportunities for all community members.

Pre-employment requirements:

  1. Current Victorian Driver's Licence.

What we offer:

  1. A permanent full-time opportunity.
  2. Salary range $105,724.83 to $117,953.20 per annum plus super.
  3. Ongoing learning and development opportunities, including health and well-being initiatives.
  4. 18 weeks of paid parental leave – primary carer/2 weeks of paid parental leave – partner.
  5. Flexible work and leave arrangement, with a monthly RDO.
