Why you'll love the role:

We are seeking a Diploma qualified Early Childhood Educator to provide cover for lunch and tea breaks for educators/teachers. The days and hours for this position are Tuesday - Friday, 2.5 hrs per day, 10 hours per week, 11:30am to 2:00pm each day.

You'll support and assist the Kindergarten Teacher in the delivery of an educational program and a range of quality early childhood experiences to eligible children in the year prior to school entry at Olympic Village Pre-School.

This role will also ensure the care and education program aligns with the Early Childhood Services Philosophy. You'll ensure a child-safe environment and contribute to a culture of child safety by fulfilling the responsibilities and requirements of Council's Child Safe Policy and procedures.

What you'll do:

  • Assist the Early Childhood Teacher Degree in implementing an early childhood educational program and a range of early childhood experiences.
  • Assist in the implementation of a program which is appropriate to the developmental needs and interests of the children attending the service.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of the children's educational program.
  • Assist in developing good relationships and effective communication between families and the kindergarten.

What you'll bring - skills, experience and certificates:

  • Early Childhood Qualification as recognised under Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 – Cert III or Diploma.
  • Knowledge of the National Quality Framework, Education and Care Services National Law Act (2010), Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011) and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework.
  • Current, recognised Level 2 First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Certificates, with CPR updates completed in the last 12 months.
  • Awareness of cultural needs of families.
  • Effective communication with families, professionals, and people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

Mandatory Pre-employment screenings:

  • Qualifications and certificates as above.
  • Mandatory reporting certificate.
  • Pre-employment medical.
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC – previously called a police check).
  • Working with Children's Check.

We offer:

  • Salary in the range $18,534.17 to $19,636.14 per annum plus super (for comparison at full time this is $71,285.28 to $75,523.62 per annum plus super).
  • Permanent and part time at 10 hours per week.
