Mechanical Engineer

Due to growth, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Saunders International team, preferably based at our head office in Rhodes, NSW on a permanent full-time basis.

The Design Engineer position forms part of the Saunders Operations group. The Operations Group supports the delivery of construction and maintenance projects by providing Engineering, Drafting, HSE, Quality and Procurement services. The primary objective of the Design Engineer is to support projects by:

• Delivering accurate engineering calculations and method statements on schedule that are safe and fit for purpose.
• Liaising with client representatives, project managers, project engineers, drafting leads and draftspersons to provide required technical information.
• Answering construction or maintenance site queries and provide solutions.
• Involving research and development for safe and cost-effective solutions for construction and maintenance.
• Attending construction and maintenance sites to provide guidance to the site teams and gather feedback on the method statements provided.
• Responsible for preparing or checking the design calculations.
• Ensuring design compliance with relevant design codes.
• Ensuring design compliance with client-specific design procedures, guidelines, and standards.
• Responsible for preparing or checking construction method statements.

• Qualified engineering degree in mechanical or structural
• High analytical and problem-solving skills
• Detailed understanding of relevant design codes and practices
• High level Excel and FEA skills
• Good knowledge of AutoCAD
• An innovator with a continuous improvement mindset
• Ability to respond to a changing work environment
• Experience in tank building industry
• General WHS Induction for Construction (White Card, Blue Card)
