The Role: Dam EngineerThis is a pivotal role in stewarding infrastructure that powers irrigation, hydropower, water supply, and flood protection. As a Dam Engineer, you'll:
- Design & Plan: Collaborate in designing dams (concrete or embankment), hydraulic modeling, safety and stability assessments, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Supervise Construction: Lead on-site oversight, quality assurance, and manage timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Inspect & Maintain: Conduct routine inspections, oversee monitoring systems, and implement maintenance and rehabilitation plans.
- Manage Safety: Develop emergency action plans, conduct risk assessments, and perform rigorous safety audits.
- Champion Environment & Compliance: Lead environmental impact assessments, prepare regulatory permits, and adopt sustainable best practices.
- Operate & Innovate: Steer water flow management, hydropower operations (if applicable), flood control mechanisms—and explore new technologies to boost safety and sustainability.
- You hold a degree in civil, structural, or geotechnical engineering, with bonuses for hydrology or water resources specialisation.
- You bring practical experience in dam construction, operation, or maintenance.
- You're adept with tools like AutoCAD, hydraulic modeling software, and structural analysis techniques.
- Detail-oriented and analytical, you're a problem-solver who understands both engineering challenges and regulatory standards.
- You're passionate about sustainable infrastructure and keen to innovate.
