The Leukaemia Foundation is on an exciting transformation journey to deliver greater impact to our key stakeholders and the Australian community. Join a national organisation standing with Australia to help cure and conquer every blood cancer – with care. Together we're attacking every blood cancer, from every direction, in every way we can. Now more than ever, the path to conquering blood cancer requires us to work together and ensure 100% access to the right information, the best treatments, the latest trials, tests and diagnostic tools; and the best supportive care to help people not just to survive - but also to live well.
Job DescriptionAs a Leukaemia Foundation Youth Representative, you'll be out in the community visiting schools, inspiring teachers and students, and getting them excited to take part in the World's Greatest Shave fundraising campaign.
Your mission is to bring new schools on board, reconnect with schools that haven't been involved for a while and support schools already taking part so they can raise even more.
You'll do this through emails, phone calls, in person school visits, motivating presentations at Assemblies or student forums, and by keeping in touch with schools during their fundraising journey. You'll also keep simple records of your visits and progress so the World's Greatest Shave team can see how the campaign is growing.
If you are looking for an opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in fundraising, marketing, communications, events, and sales, this is the perfect opportunity for you
A few extra things to know- This role is based out of the Leukaemia Foundation's office – work from home isn't available
- You'll work mainly in metro areas, with regular travel in your allocated territory
- Hours will change throughout the season – they're busiest during Term 4 and Term 1 (up to 15 hours per week)
- The role is seasonal and runs from October to May
Inspiring and Signing Up Schools to take part in the campaign
- Use email, phone or other digital channels to contact schools, introduce yourself and find the right contact for the World's Greatest Shave
- Visit schools to introduce them to the World's Greatest Shave and get them involved
- Give lively, engaging talks to students and teachers about the cause and how they can help
- Follow up with phone calls, emails, or more visits to answer questions and help schools get started
- Reach out to schools that haven't participated for a while and invite them back
- Share new ideas, inspiration, and easy ways to get involved
- Support schools already signed up to have the best possible experience while maximising the funds raised for Australians living with blood cancer
- Keep in touch during their fundraising to answer questions, offer tips, and celebrate their efforts
- Keep accurate records of the schools you've spoken to and what's planned next
- Share updates with your manager and the wider team
- Tell us what's working well and what could make things even better
- Be part of a friendly national team all working towards the same goal
- Share your ideas and learn from others
- Help out with local World's Greatest Shave events when needed
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Confidence speaking to groups (whether that's in a classroom or assembly hall)
- A friendly, approachable manner and the ability to connect with people quickly
- Great communication skills – in person, over the phone, and in writing
- Good organisation and time management
- A driver's licence and your own reliable car (you'll be reimbursed for your kilometres)
- A Working With Children Check (or willingness to get one before starting)
- Experience in customer service, sales, promotions, or community engagement
- An understanding of schools and youth culture
- Experience with a CRM (like Salesforce) or using Microsoft Office
- A fun, hands-on role that makes a real difference for Australians with blood cancer
- Valuable work experience in the non-profit sector that looks great on your resume
- Support from a friendly, welcoming team
