ECC Graduate Development Program (GDP) at Animal Emergency Centre (AEC) offers a 24-month immersive program designed to accelerate clinical confidence, expand knowledge and prepare you for a career in veterinary emergency and critical care. The program is available across three Melbourne sites: Mt Waverley, Moorabbin, and Frankston.
LocationsOur Moorabbin hospital is a brand new, purpose-built facility with advanced diagnostics and technology, including a growing specialty surgery department. The Mount Waverley and Frankston locations provide state-of-the-art emergency and critical care facilities, diagnostic equipment, imaging, pathology, and related services.
What you will do- Be rostered with an experienced veterinarian for the first 18 months to build confidence with ongoing guidance.
- Receive hands-on clinical training, structured didactic teaching, practical classes, and exposure to related disciplines.
- Gain exposure to complex surgical cases and learn from leaders in the field, with dedicated time spent with the surgery team.
- Rotate across three sites (Moorabbin, Mount Waverley, Frankston) with 40/50% time at one site to build relationships and training opportunities at others.
- 4 weeks paid annual leave + 1 week paid study leave
- 10 days personal leave
- Rotating shifts across weekdays, weekends, nights & public holidays
- Paid AVA membership + access to premium online veterinary resources
- Opportunity for locum shifts for additional income
- Pathway to ongoing employment as a Staff Veterinarian

- Recognised veterinary degree in Australia and eligibility for veterinary registration in Victoria
- Motivated individuals passionate about becoming the best veterinarians they can be
- Excellent organisational and communication skills; flexible with scheduling to participate in training
- Experience in Emergency & Critical Care or keen interest in this area is highly sought after
- Availability to travel across Moorabbin, Mount Waverley and Frankston
