About the role

Are you ready to take on an exciting and dynamic role? As a key member of the Financial Control team, you will dive into the world of technical accounting and practical management reporting, playing a crucial role during the month-end analysis of results. This position is your chance to shine within the Energy accounting team, where you'll report directly to the Performance Manager – Energy.

Your mission? To ensure the accuracy and integrity of the accounts, all while building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact and grow your career in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Please note: This is a 12-month maximum term contract based out of our Melbourne offices.

What you'll be doing day-to-day

• Preparation of Month-End Results and Accounting Accruals: Ensure accurate and timely preparation of month-end financial results and accounting accruals.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough financial analysis of results against budget and forecast to identify variances and provide insights.
• Monthly Reporting Packs: Assist in the preparation of comprehensive monthly reporting packs for management review.
• Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Perform balance sheet reconciliations and make necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy.
• Process Improvement Initiatives: Actively participate in process improvement initiatives across the group finance team to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Additionally, you will

• Support Team Members: Provide support to other accounting team members with ad hoc requirements.
• Data Analysis: Conduct data analysis to support financial decision-making.
• Finance Project Work and Statutory Lodgements: Assist with finance project work and ensure compliance with statutory lodgements.

What you'll bring to this role

• Accounting Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience in a medium to large-sized business or as a first mover from a Big 4/chartered firm is highly favourable. ACAorCPAQualificationorclosetocompletion.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and reporting.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong MS Excel and analytical skills are crucial for data analysis and financial reporting.
• Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail ensures accuracy and integrity in all financial tasks.
• Positive Attitude and Initiative: A positive can-do attitude, high levels of initiative, and an eagerness to learn are key to thriving in this role.
