Rates: $50 - $70 per hour (inc. super)

The CIOD is one of two divisions within the Australian Electoral Commission's (AEC) Enterprise Transformation Group (ETG) and is responsible for delivering robust ICT functions and capabilities, maintaining election-ready systems, and delivering an ambitious ICT transformation and modernisation agenda. The CIOD leads and supports a range of AEC projects/programs including, but not limited to, the Cloud Technology Project, Polling Place Technology Project, and the Election Systems Modernisation Program (Indigo Program). Indigo Program (Tranche 2) The Indigo Program is a large-scale transformation program to modernise business capabilities and replace core election ICT systems with a citizen-centric, agile technology platform. The Program will transform the AEC's delivery of electoral services and ensure ongoing integrity of the electoral system. Tranche 2 comprises a variety of work packages with a focus on business process re-engineering, data management, legislative compliance and replacing aging systems.

The AEC is seeking to engage suitably qualified and experienced Test Analysts determine and then carry out testing activities to validate the design and behaviour of systems and services.

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is seeking to engage suitably qualified and experienced Test Analysts to deliver and support a range of ICT projects/programs. The Test Analysts will work as part of an Agile delivery or project team, writing the test plan and strategy, writing and executing test cases and producing test reporting.

The candidate must hold an active Baseline security clearance prior to commencement.

Key duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Working closely within Project test teams to develop test plans and execute and report against them. This will be achieved through working with the AEC Business stakeholders and project development teams.
  • Engaging with development teams to understand the scope of product releases and developing acceptance criteria based on business objectives, functional requirements and service level requirements.
  • Developing test plans, test scenarios and/or test scripts for a specific release.
  • Undertaking testing activities including functional, integration and regression testing for each release cycle.
  • Reporting and tracking the resolution of issues as they are found in testing.
  • Assisting with issue triaging.
  • Developing test reports.
  • Liaising with vendors, AEC's business areas and IT Branch staff as required.
  • Performing other duties as directed from time-to-time by Directors/Team Leaders or a delegate.

Essential Criteria

  1. Experience in test processes, including preparation, execution, and reporting.
  2. Proficiency using tools such as Microsoft Test Manager and Azure DevOps.
  3. Communication skills to be part of a positive team culture.
  4. Ability to engage and collaborate internally with other key IT areas, project teams, business areas, and external service providers.
  5. Ability to work independently and be a self-motivated individual.
  6. Strong conceptual, analytical, and interpretive skills with high level of attention to details.
  7. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  8. Proven experience of working in an Agile team.


Desirable Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualifications or industry recognised certification in Information Management or Computer Science (or a relevant discipline).
  2. SQL querying ability.
  3. Automation skills.
  4. Strong programming knowledge.
