Job Opportunity: IICL-Certified Shipping Container Surveyor

Location:Bibra Lake | Full-Time | On-Site

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-driven and experienced IICL-Certified Shipping Container Surveyor with proven expertise in Container Chain to join our operations team. A key function of this role is quoting container repairs to standards. You will be responsible for inspecting, assessing, and costing repairs to sea containers across a variety of types and damage profiles.

This is a site-based role that requires solid technical knowledge, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to quality assurance within depot environments.

Key Responsibilities

Condition Assessment & Damage Reporting

• Conduct comprehensive inspections of general purpose, high cube, reefer, open-top, flat rack and tank containers in accordance with IICL-6 and CSC standards.
• Identify and record structural, mechanical and cosmetic defects including corrosion, impact damage, warped frames, floorboard issues, and faulty locking mechanisms.
• Use phone/tablet-based inspection tools and photographic documentation to record findings.

Repair Quoting & Cost Estimation (Primary Focus)

• Prepare accurate repair estimates based on IICL repair criteria, depot pricing schedules, and customer-specific standards.
• Assign labour codes and material costs in accordance with container industry practices.
• Collaborate with repair technicians to verify repair viability, scope and timeframes.
• Ensure quote justifications are clearly documented for audit, billing and compliance review.

System Reporting & Container Chain

• Use Container Chain to manage container arrivals, redeliveries, inspections and quote submissions.
• Accurately input gate-in/gate-out statuses and inspection results in real time.
• Ensure full traceability of inspection and quoting activity for leasing company review.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• IICL-6 Certification (current and valid)
• Minimum 2 years' hands-on work in container surveying, repair estimation or leasing inspections
• Proficient in digital inspection tools and container management systems
• Ability to undertake in minor repairs and fixes
• Metal trade qualification / Familiarity with welding types, panel repairs, corner casting replacement and container floor restoration
• Forklift operation skills and certification or willingness to obtain
