About This Job

Ingleburn High School is a co–educational comprehensive high school in South Western Sydney which services the needs and aspirations of a diverse and growing multi–cultural urban population. The school enrolment is currently at 746, including 81 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 53% of the school population being from a Non English speaking background. The school has a support unit of 7 classes (one for students with moderate intellectual disabilities, two Multi-categorical and four for students with autism).

The school is committed to continually improving effective classroom practices with staff professional learning being the key to ensuring this. This learning will ensure that both literacy and numeracy levels can be enhanced through improved data analysis and use to support student learning.

Ingleburn High School aims to provide broad–based educational experiences that are both relevant and challenging in collaborative classrooms. Students are always encouraged to take responsibility for their own academic and social and emotional learning, extending their own abilities and interests so that they can reach their potential and make valuable contributions toward Australian society. The school continues to build a vibrant learning community focusing on student achievement and attainment, community connections, opportunity and quality teaching practices.

Specific Selection Criteria
  • Approval and/or experience teaching students with autism and mild intellectual disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to use effective classroom management skills and wellbeing practices to create a classroom environment that is engaging, inclusive and fosters a culture of high expectations.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive, respectful relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to deliver an engaging, differentiated curriculum and implement inclusive practices that promote high expectations, positive relationships, and proactive behaviour management.
Requirements and Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
