We're on the lookout for a seasoned, people-focused Town Planner to join our growing team. If you're passionate about creating thoughtful, community-driven outcomes and know the ins and outs of QLD planning legislation, we want to hear from you.
In this role, you'll be a key player in shaping the future of local and regional developments across SEQ. You'll be responsible for managing client relationships, coordinating projects from start to finish, and delivering meaningful outcomes—on time and on budget.
This is more than just a planning role. This is an opportunity to be part of an established brand which has built a solid reputation across both private and public sectors.
We're looking for someone with the confidence to lead, the curiosity to investigate, and the clarity to communicate complex planning matters effectively. You'll be part of a supportive, collaborative team that values integrity, innovation, and impact. We work on projects that shape real communities, and we believe planning should be both practical and people-first. This role offers the chance to grow your influence and help drive change at a local level.
The areas you will work across will include:- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Leading and coordinating project teams across varied planning assignments
- Preparing and lodging development applications
- Undertaking planning assessments and site investigations and analysing QLD legislation and planning frameworks
- Contributing to business growth through the preparation of tenders, proposals, and submissions
We welcome applicants at emerging and senior stages to apply for this role. The right candidate will bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or Urban Planning
- 4-8 years of industry experience, ideally in Brisbane or the broader SEQ region
- Strong knowledge of the Planning Act and DA rules and processes
- Demonstrated ability to juggle priorities and meet deadlines
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive, motivated mindset with the ability to work independently and within a team
- Experience in regional planning or working with local councils
- An established professional network in the SEQ development industry
- Confidence in mentoring junior staff and contributing to team development
- Previous experience in private consultancy or multi-disciplinary teams
- A strong team culture with great diversity and leadership
- Meaningful projects that make a difference in communities
- Career development tailored to your goals – whether that's leadership, creative exploration, or technical mastery
- Opportunities to be profiled for your work and contributions
Place Employee Benefits:
- Learning Opportunities – Individual career development, including mentorship, access to our Senior Leadership team, access to industry associations and memberships, opportunities to work across multidisciplinary teams, exposure to new technologies and innovations in landscape architecture and job challenges that will push you to think critically.
- Inclusive and Supportive Culture – diverse and valued workplace, work-life balance under our 'flexible flexibility' mantra, competitive salary, 'Place Space' Wellness & Culture program, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, an employee benefit program providing access to discounted retail, technology, beauty and wellness, insurance and car loan discounts, active training and great team activities and celebrations.
If you feel you are the right person for this opportunity, we would love to hear from you. Please send your cover letter and CV to:
