About the Role

As the Product Owner – IoT Hardware, you will report directly to the Chief Product Officer (CPO) and take ownership of the entire lifecycle of Taggle's hardware portfolio—including both in-house developed devices and third-party devices that we support and manage. This is a strategic and hands-on role that requires a deep understanding of hardware, systems integration, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will be responsible for defining hardware product requirements (with implementation carried out by the Hardware Engineering team), and ensuring reliable, large-scale device operation. Key areas of focus include integration, device verification within operational workflows, and ensuring seamless functionality within our software ecosystem.

Taggle offers end-to-end IoT solutions, so you will collaborate closely with Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Operations teams, and external partners to ensure efficient release management and the smooth ongoing operation of both our own and third-party devices.

Data is central to our mission of saving water and delivering future value-added services. You will work directly with customers to identify and validate new sensors, protocols, and use cases, and collaborate with Software Product Owners to deliver actionable water analytics. Your analytical mindset and customer-centric approach will be vital in solving real-world water challenges.

Our IoT devices—including battery-powered dataloggers and telemetry-enabled water meters—are either developed in-house or sourced from trusted third parties. These devices are designed for long-life (10–15 years) and operate on LP-WAN, NB-IoT, and low-power satellite networks, connecting to our Head-End System and data visualisation platforms.

Ideally, you'll bring experience in the water industry, along with a strong foundation in electronics, radio communications, and networking technologies (such as LwM2M, SCADA, and IoT protocols). This background will support your ability to lead integration, testing, and innovation initiatives.

As Product Owner, you will:

·Define product requirements and technical specifications.

·Select, test, and integrate third-party devices into our ecosystem.

·Collaborate with Software Product Owners and Engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration.

·Operate at the intersection of hardware, embedded systems, cloud infrastructure, and end-user applications.

Unlike traditional software-focused roles, this position demands a blend of technical expertise and business acumen to continuously evolve and enhance our connected hardware offerings.

Key Accountabilities

·End-to-End Product Ownership– Partner with the CPO to drive the direction, planning, delivery, marketing, and ongoing optimization of our hardware products. Incorporate customer feedback, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with business objectives.

·Product Roadmap– Own and develop the hardware product roadmap, guided by strategy, customer needs, and data-driven insights.

·Customer Insights– Maintain a deep understanding of customer environments and stakeholder challenges. Translate insights into clear problem statements and solution requirements and educate internal teams accordingly.

·Project Management– Lead and coordinate hardware-related workstreams across cross-functional teams.

·Cross-Functional Collaboration– Work closely with Sales, Customer Success, and Operations teams to refine solutions and support effective delivery.

·Go-to-Market Strategy– Collaborate with Sales to plan and execute product launches, ensuring effective organization-wide rollout.

·Financial Management – Manage product profitability and commercial outcomes, including business case development and ROI analysis.

·Requirements Management – Oversee disciplined gathering, documentation, and implementation of product requirements. Ensure features are properly tested and validated prior to release.

·Third-Party Device Validation– Evaluate and validate third-party devices for integration and resale, ensuring scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.

·Customer Analytics– Define and track key performance metrics to monitor and optimize hardware performance.

·Competitive Analysis– Monitor competitors and emerging market entrants. Analyse product offerings, market positioning, and strategies to support business growth.

·LwM2M Device Integration– Identify and validate new LwM2M devices. Oversee their successful integration into our systems.

·Security & Compliance– Ensure products meet all security, privacy, and compliance standards in collaboration with internal teams.

·Research & Development– Support the CPO with hardware-related R&D initiatives to drive innovation and strategic advancement.

About you

·Able to work effectively across internal and external teams, fostering alignment and cooperation.

Your Background

To be successful in this role you will have:

·Degree in Electronic Engineering or a technical discipline.

·5+ years' experience in aProduct Owner/Manager rolein aB2B IoT environment.

·Hands-on experience with IoT hardware development, testing, and lifecycle management.

·Deep understanding of LWM2M, NB-IoT, LP-WAN and related device protocols.

·Familiarity with software platforms (MQTT, APIs, Python, cloud-based infrastructure)

·Skilled in tools such as MS Office, JIRA, SQL, BI, GIS.

·Strong commercial awareness and ability to write and support business cases.

·Excellent communication, influencing, and project coordination skills.

·Master's degree or MBA

·Background in the water industry or sustainability-focused technology

·Operational or commercial management experience in scaling IoT solutions
