AUD 55,000 - 70,000
The Role
Our client is a family-owned enterprise that manages 3,400 hectares of dryland broadacre cropping, specialising in cultivating wheat, barley, canola, and various pulses. The organisation is dedicated to operating a professional and efficient agricultural business, continuously enhancing its operational systems. The farm utilises modern Case machinery, including two headers: the 7240 and the 7250. The farm has well-planned infrastructure that includes a machinery shed, a hay shed, and storage facilities, all located within a centralised area of the farm. To streamline operations, the operation employs advanced software and tools such as Ag World, Field Margin, Trello, Trimble, and Case Pro 700 and 1200 screens.
We seek a capable and reliable farm hand to assist with cropping and machinery operations. This position is hands-on and diverse, encompassing responsibilities like machinery operation for paddock spraying, sowing, spreading, and harvesting. The role involves workshop and general maintenance tasks, including scheduled servicing, repairs, machinery cleaning, yard slashing, and weed control. Additionally, candidates will assist with commodity logistics, including the loading and unloading of trucks and the cleaning of silos as necessary.
The organisation fosters a supportive work environment prioritising clarity, respect, and personal growth. We are committed to skill development, minimising confusion and stress, and valuing feedback from team members. We strive to create structured roles that offer opportunities for advancement while genuinely emphasising the growth and well-being of all employees. A reliable fleet, routine maintenance, and a focus on safety and sustainability for the future reinforce our commitment to professionalism.
The Offer
A competitive remuneration package is available based on the applicant's skills and experience. While accommodation is not provided, they can help find rental options and include rental assistance in the package. Additionally, we will supply one tank of fuel per week. Applicants must use their own cars to commute between home and work.
The role is located 30 km north of Griffith, NSW, a vibrant regional centre boasting schools, sports clubs, cafes, and diverse food and health services. Griffith offers a relaxed lifestyle with essential amenities and a strong community spirit. The farm is just a short drive from town, making it ideal for those living in or considering relocating to Griffith.
The Ideal Candidate
This role is ideal for someone with mechanical aptitude and experience operating large-scale cropping machinery, or someone eager to learn. We seek someone who aligns with our values—someone committed to caring for the land, working with integrity, and contributing to creating something exceptional and sustainable. We are looking for candidates with the following attributes:
- Be practical and trustworthy and take pride in completing tasks effectively; demonstrate ownership and follow through on responsibilities.
- Reliable and proactive, with strong attention to detail and practical time management skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a small, high-trust team.
- Open to learning and improving, particularly with machinery, systems, and farm technology; comfortable using technology or eager to learn new tools and processes.
- Value safety, efficiency, and supporting team members.
- Possess a truck license or be willing to obtain an MC truck license.
If you feel that you're the right fit for this position, please submit an up-to-date resume along with the contact details of 3 references. Preference will be given to those who supply a cover letter addressing their suitability - that is, tell us what you love about the role and how you think you're the right fit.
