About the Role

As a Therapeutic Youth Worker, you will provide direct support, care, and mentorship to children and young people living in Intensive Therapeutic Care homes across Cooranbong. We support young people who have experienced childhood trauma, abuse, neglect, and may have mental health, physical, or psychosocial disabilities.

To succeed in this role, you should be a resilient problem solver, adaptable to an ever-changing environment, and a strong advocate for the young people you support. Availability to work a 24/7 roster, including night and weekend shifts, is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop caring, safe, and trusting relationships with young people
  • Meet the daily needs of children and young people, working within legislative requirements and initiatives such as We Put Children First
  • Provide daily care, supervision, and role modeling
  • Facilitate activities connecting the young person with family, community, and culture
  • Support participation in school, vocational training, or employment
  • Advocate effectively for the views of young people
  • Participate in team meetings, reflective practice, supervision, debriefing, and support activities

Skills & Experience

  • A Diploma in Community Services or a related field, or current enrollment in a Degree or Diploma (qualification is desirable but not essential for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants with relevant experience)
  • A current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate
  • Australian Driver's License

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks, including a National Criminal History Record Check and NSW Working with Children Check.
