About The RoleThe purpose of the position is to support clinicians to provide culturally safe and appropriate health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with kidney disease and those requiring dialysis, who access the North West Hospital and Health Service. The role will involve working across the NWHHS Renal Service under the guidance and support of a Clinical Nurse and Registered Nurse and other members of the Renal multidisciplinary team. Primarily based in Doomadgee.
The Doomadgee Hospital provides 24-hour acute inpatient and accident and emergency care. It is located in the far North-western corner of Queensland on the Nicholson River near the gulf of Carpentaria. The Waanyi and Gangalidda people are recognised as the Traditional Custodians of the area.
Responsibilities- Support Clinicians to provide culturally safe and appropriate health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with kidney disease and those requiring dialysis.
- Work across the Renal Service under guidance of the Clinical Nurse, Registered Nurse and the Renal multidisciplinary team.
- Based in Doomadgee, with travel to various facilities or units within the Northwest Hospital and Health Service as required.
- It is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
- The position will involve travel to various facilities or units within the Northwest Hospital and Health Service.
- C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
- Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
- Working with Children check is required prior to appointment.
- This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
- A period of probation may apply.
- Permanent full-time role available, 76 hours per fortnight.
- Base salary ranges between $75,090 and $103,261 p.a. (HWF3).
- Isolation bonus: AUD$3,500 for 1 year; AUD$10,500 for 2 years; AUD$7,000 for the 3rd year and every year after that.
- Providing 2 return airfares per year to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with recreation leave (including spouse/dependents).
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
- Long Service Leave and Sick Leave accrual.
