Kickstart your career in one of the most valuable learning environments a building surveyor can experience, local government building compliance. You will see a wide range of cases, gain exposure to every corner of building regulation and understand the full process from investigation through to enforcement. As a Graduate, you will learn how to:
- Research and interpret legislation, codes, approvals, and the Building Code of Australia (BCA) along with related regulations.
- Join officers on-site to conduct inspections, investigate real building compliance matters and assess building code triggers.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, draft compliance notices and refer matters to the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) where necessary, including potential breaches of the Code of Ethics.
This is more than a desk job, working alongside experienced Building Compliance Officers you will gain hands-on experience setting you up for a rewarding career in building surveying. If you have an eye for detail and a commitment to upholding high standards in building safety and compliance, this role is made for you.

To be considered for this opportunity you must hold a recognised bachelor's degree or post graduate qualification from a tertiary institution, completed within the last two years or be completing prior to the commencement of the program in February 2026. Applicants must have full working rights in Australia for the duration of the program and be able to work full-time.
The Graduate Building Surveying and Compliance welcomes graduates who have studied Bachelor of Building Surveying with a strong interest in legislation, research; and related fields.
