About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a registered Conveyancer to act for the South Australian Government and its agencies to provide advice and assistance to clients in relation to land transactions and to prepare LTO documentation and other documentation associated with land conveyancing transactions. Operating in a small team, the work of this role is busy, varied, interesting and complex.
Applications will be assessed between the ASO3, ASO4 and ASO5 classifications dependent on the skills, knowledge, and experience of applicants. Please refer to J&Ps for details of each classification. Please specify in your application which ASO level you are applying for based on your skills, knowledge and experience.
Essential Qualifications & Qualities
Must be a Registered Conveyancer pursuant to the Conveyancers Act 1994 or eligible for registration prior to commencement in the role.
Experience in the practice of conveyancing including the provision of advice, the preparation of LTO documentation, settlements, land divisions and completion of transactions in accordance with relevant legislation (essential for ASO4 and ASO5 and desirable for ASO3).
Knowledge of and experience in the use of the electronic conveyancing platform PEXA (essential for ASO4 and ASO5 and desirable for ASO3).
Knowledge of Acts which affect land tenure and land transactions including the Real Property Act 1886, the Land and Business (Sales and Conveyancing) Act 1994, the Conveyancers Act 1994 and the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.
Government conveyancing experience and knowledge of Acts relevant to land tenure within SA Government such as the Crown Land Management Act 2009 is desirable but not essential.
The successful applicant at ASO4 or ASO5 level will be a conveyancer who has experience and expertise in commercial and residential settlements, land divisions and other conveyancing transactions such as easements and encumbrances and has good knowledge of and experience in the use of the electronic conveyancing platform PEXA. The successful applicant at ASO3 level will have knowledge of conveyancing matters and of electronic conveyancing and some experience in conveyancing practice will be favourably considered.
In addition, the successful applicant will have meticulous attention to detail and excellent client service skills, and a demonstrated ability to work well during periods of pressure and high volume.
About the Business
The Crown Solicitor's Office, through the Attorney-General, provides legal and conveyancing services to government, Ministers, agencies and departments, including legal advice, representation before courts and tribunals, native title claim management, negotiating commercial contracts, drafting and production of legal and conveyancing documents.
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
Some out of hours work may be required.
