We have several career opportunities within our Catering team based at our facilities at Somerton. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for producing food items according to the approved specifications and recipes.

What you will be doing day-to-day:

  • Responsible for the preparation and cooking of food items according to approved specifications and recipes, ensuring that food preparation is made on time within designated schedules.
  • Check all materials and foodstuff, ensuring that they are used before spoilage.
  • Keep all food preparation areas clean at all times.
  • Supervise tasks performed by Catering Assistants and unqualified chefs in the designated section.
  • Maintain efficient sanitation services, garbage disposal, and chilling systems that comply with the regulations and requirements of the Gate Gourmet HACCP plan.
  • Compile reports and documents as required.
  • Promote a safe work environment at all times.

We are interested in speaking with individuals who possess:

  • Experience working in a bulk cooking environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing department is preferable but not essential.
  • Vocational training in culinary and related hygiene courses is highly desirable.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work across a 7-day roster.
