Government Security Officer (DISP PSO) - Canberra/Melbourne

This organization ensures SAP's compliance with customers' national security requirements, enables business in sensitive industries, and complies with Critical Infrastructure and Telecommunication regulations for SAP worldwide. The SAP GS2 business unit is looking for a Government Security Officer (DISP PSO) Australia with familiarity of the objectives and obligations of the Australian Defence's Industry Security Program (DISP).

Purpose and Objective

SAP GS2 supports SAP Australia to meet DISP obligations and other national security requirements, working to ensure compliance across SAP Australia in collaboration with regional leadership.

• Fulfil the primary role of a DISP Security Officer within the Government Security & Secrecy Office for SAP Australia (SAP Australia Pty Ltd) accountable to the Regional Manager and DISP CSO for ongoing management and maintenance of DISP related activities and other national security programmes and initiatives.
• Comply with all Defence, AGSVA and Australian Government requirements as the Security Officer.
• Manage daily administration of mandatory compliance artefacts, such as SAP Australia's DISP Security Register, and GS2's document sharing sites (e.g., ANZ GS2 TEAM room and GS2 ANZ National Security Group SharePoint).
• Identify, develop and implement required processes and improvements in the GS2 ANZ portfolio to meet SAP's DISP and other government obligations.
• Support the Regional Manager and Director GS2 (DISP Chief Security Officer) to monitor, interpret and implement policy and legislation changes and ensure compliance across SAP Australia.
• As directed, participate in and support global GS2 projects, tasks, compliance activities and incident responses to ensure SAP Australia's DISP compliance.
• Assume the role of a GS2 Local Secrecy Officer, supporting SAP's Australian businesses to enable compliance with global SAP policies.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for DISP membership and obligations in customer engagements involving national security or government regulation.
• Maintain internal stakeholder relationships to support regional regulatory obligations and related Critical Infrastructure/Classified Information Management (CI/CIM) opportunities, ensuring DISP obligations are understood.
• Support facilitation and maintenance of personnel security clearances, travel security, lateral recognitions, and Visits Requests in coordination with AGSVA and DSD.
• Develop and maintain a network of contacts with authorities and security organisations to support SAP as a trusted partner in local markets.
• Participate in initiatives to improve SAP's operations and capacity to support customers in highly regulated markets.
• Be an exemplar of good security practices and a positive security culture in action.

Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies

• Significant management and experience in a security function within government ministries/agencies, regulated industries, or companies operating in a national security setting.
• Undergraduate/postgraduate academic qualifications or relevant professional qualifications in related disciplines such as Government Protective Security, Information Assurance, Information Security, and Risk Management are highly desirable.
• Australian citizenship is required due to government relations across ANZ jurisdictions.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Security Clearance issued by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency is required.
• Essential knowledge, skills, and experience:
• Excellent organisational awareness and planning; experience in security and compliance administration, document safeguarding, and classified information assurance per Australian policy (PSPF/DSPF/ISM) and related laws.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills with government authorities, regulators, and security organisations on behalf of SAP Australia's leadership.
• Strong presentation and communication skills across a multi-national, multicultural setting; ability to engage at executive levels.
• Proven ability to administer and maintain compliance artefacts for auditability by government or internal SAP.
• Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.).
• Experience in large or complex Program/Project Support Offices, with emphasis on resource management, data/document management and security administration (desirable).
• Program/project management qualifications are highly regarded.
• Ability to operate in a diverse and challenging regulatory environment, independently and as part of a small, agile team.
• Willingness to attend scheduled and ad hoc meetings with SAP GS2 colleagues outside core hours and travel within ANZ and potentially overseas (including Germany) subject to health/safety restrictions.
• Desirable: Controlled goods/information registration and ongoing management (ITAR/EAR); physical/site security; appreciation of technical security measures and working in secure zones.
