The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Privacy and GIPA Officer to provide expert guidance and leadership in privacy governance and access to information. This role will ensure the University complies with NSW and Commonwealth privacy laws and oversees requests made under the Government Information (Public Access) Act (GIPA). You will lead initiatives that support privacy protection, manage privacy complaints and breaches, and liaise with key stakeholders including the Information & Privacy Commission.
Your expertise will guide Privacy Impact Assessments, drive improvements aligned with our Privacy Management Plan and embed best practices across the institution.
About You
You bring extensive knowledge of NSW and Commonwealth privacy and access laws, and ideally a background in law, privacy, or information management. With strong analytical and communication skills, you excel in interpreting legislation, managing complex issues, and promoting a culture of transparency and accountability.
You are confident working with senior leaders, delivering staff training, and responding to legal requests in a high-volume environment. Your collaborative style and commitment to continuous improvement will support the University's ongoing compliance and strategic priorities.

Remuneration : Higher Education Worker Level 9 - $159,739 to $170,588 p.a. (comprising base salary of $134,981 to $144,149 p.a., plus 17% Superannuation and Leave Loading).
