About Us

Porgies Café is a popular community café with a seating capacity of 120, renowned for its great coffee, delicious food, and welcoming atmosphere. As we expand into evening dining and function catering, we need a skilled Chef to help bring our culinary vision to life.

The Role

As a Chef, you will assist in preparing and cooking high-quality dishes, maintain kitchen hygiene standards, and work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items to high standards
  • Assist in planning menus and seasonal dishes
  • Maintain food quality, portion control, and presentation
  • Follow food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Support kitchen operations and assist in training junior staff
  • Help manage inventory and food costs

  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and hygiene standards
  • Creative and passionate about delivering excellent dishes
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to café standards
  • Assist with menu planning and seasonal specials
  • Maintain food hygiene and safety compliance
  • Support daily kitchen operations and team workflow
  • Assist in managing stock and inventory
  • Help train and guide junior kitchen staff
Requirements
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and hygiene regulations
