Beca HunterH2O

Beca HunterH2O is the Australian water business of one of Asia Pacific's largest independent advisory, design and engineering consultancies, Beca.

We are a formidable team of 300+ water specialists, passionate about healthy and sustainable communities wherever we work. Using our deep knowledge and broader capability, we collaborate with our clients through city and regional offices operating in Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle, Tamworth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Fiji.

Combining the capability of our expert water specialists with access to more than 4,000 multi-disciplinary specialists, we bring the best of Beca to our clients, to "Make Every Day Better".

The opportunity

With a strong pipeline of strategic planning projects, we are seeking the appointment of experienced Water Modellers, to join our thriving Australian water team. The roles will ideally be based in our Newcastle office, although we are open to considering Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne based candidates.

Our water modelling team supports a wide range of strategic planning projects across Australia and the Pacific, including water and wastewater network modelling, and water resource modelling. The team is an integral part of the broader strategic planning and advisory group, and contributes to strategy studies, options investigations and concept designs for potable water, wastewater, recycled water and surface water supply projects.

We work in partnership with a variety of urban and regional clients, with a strong focus on supporting regional councils, water utilities and state-based agencies, helping to make everyday better for our clients and the communities they serve.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Building and calibrating hydrological and hydraulic models for water and wastewater networks and water resource systems
  • Analysing and assessing hydrologic, hydraulic, GIS and survey data
  • Utilising GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS
  • Undertaking modelling investigations, options assessments, master planning, growth and development studies, and operational / control systems design and validation
  • Communicating model development and model outcomes with both internal and external stakeholders, including preparation of modelling reports
  • Working in collaboration with other team members to deliver a variety of systems investigations, planning studies, feasibility and strategy studies, and concept designs
About you

You are a highly motivated Water Modeller looking to grow within the Water market, with a strong track record in successfully delivering modelling projects in a consulting environment. You hold a Bachelor of Civil or Environmental Engineering or another relevant qualification, and have five years or more of relevant work experience. You'll have a solid grounding in the theory of water and wastewater network hydraulics, and/or water resource systems, and ideally experience using modelling software such as InfoWorks, MIKE, Source or Wathnet. Your experience spans technical delivery and client-facing activities, and you have a natural ability to build wide and effective networks of contacts inside and outside the organisation ultimately leading to ongoing work and repeat business.

You love to learn, share knowledge and bring a fresh perspective to support the development of those around you. You constantly seek better practice to enhance the overall quality of our work and client experience.
