This is the kind of role that would suit a Senior Dental Receptionist yearning for more exposure to specialist procedures or a Registered Nurse who wants to maintain patient connection, but without the 3.00am wake-up alarm. You'll be supporting complex surgical cases, working closely with patients, coordinating procedures, and liaising with hospitals, anaesthetists, and health funds.
You'll be a calm and trusted presence for people in vulnerable moments, making sure their appointments are sorted, their questions are answered, and their journey through surgery is as smooth as possible.
As a Senior Receptionist at Queensland Oral & Maxillofacial Services, you will:
- Greet patients and visitors, creating a welcoming environment and managing appointment bookings.
- Oversee billing, invoicing, and claims processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with health funds, Medicare, DVA, and ADF.
- Order and keep track of surgical and office supplies so the team never runs short of what they need.
- Build positive relationships with surgeons, nurses, and the Practice Manager to keep patient care running smoothly.
- Help maintain hygiene and safety standards around the practice, including basic cleaning and infection control.
- Upskill or refamiliarise with emergency and recovery equipment and procedures to support the team when needed.
- Assist with general administrative tasks, including typing support for the specialists.
What you'll need
- Experience working as a Receptionist in a dental practice, hospital administration, or as a Registered Nurse.
- Basic to advanced knowledge of HICAPS, EFTPOS, Medicare, DVA, Australian Defence Force, Health Fund claiming, and strong computer literacy.
- Caring and communicative with people and confident handling phone calls and face-to-face enquiries.
- Organised and positive attitude, comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities.
- An understanding of the importance of compliance, ensuring everything from billing to sterilisation adheres to industry standards.
- The ability to be primarily located at the Auchenflower rooms with a car and license to travel to the Chermside practice on an occasional basis.
