A market leading building materials business holding the highest market share in their categories - this Australian company is steeped in history having operated for over a century. They're one of the largest building materials firms in Australia with multiple sites in every state and across New Zealand.
About the role
The role is responsible for ensuring the product range is market leading, it works right across the value chain ultimately having technical accountabiity from suppliers through to customers driving the highest quality product and continuous improvement across the portfolio. The role is highly engaged in industry, with technical committees and industry bodies, is across new and emerging technologies in the space, and understands the building and construction market so as to interpret future trends and demands. You're knowledgeable in relevant australian building codes and standards so as to avoid compliance failures and to ensure the right selection and testing regime etc.
About you
We're seeking an experienced technical manager from any building material category - we're not advertising the specific product because we want to attract people from outside of it :
- Flexible on background but ideally you're an experienced Technical Manager with experience in building materials
- Tertiary degree in engineering, material science or other relevant
- Broad experience outside technical would be advantageous, such as sales or commercial
- Demonstrated ability to learn new products or markets, such as having experience in multiple products and categories
- Understanding of the building sector, regulations and codes for products and materials
Other details
This is a key role in a close knit team and a business that can accommodate a broad range of requirements - we're open to people being based in Melbourne or Sydney, both states having multiple sites and offices which you'd be free to work across as it suits you and the needs of the role on a given day or week. There is likely some travel from time to time but you'd have a lot of control over when it was to occur and how you'd balance it, people in this business also regularly work from home across a broad range of roles incluidng this one. It is a very autonomous environment.
