St John's Primary School, Lambton is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pastoral Care Worker to join our vibrant school community in a permanent part-time capacity. Commencing: 13 October 2025 | Hours: 14 per week.
St John's Primary School, Lambton is committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and to supporting the wellbeing and holistic development of every child.
As a Pastoral Care Worker you will promote student wellbeing, offer social and emotional support, and contribute to a positive school culture. You'll collaborate with staff, students and families to create a safe and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.
Responsibilities- Provide pastoral care services to students and support the wellbeing of the broader school community.
- Engage with the school community according to the guidelines defined in the NSCP (Guidelines on NSW Arrangements for 2020–2022) and relevant project agreements.
- Be a Catholic
- Understand and support the Catholic Identity and mission of the school and have a good understanding of Catholic schools and the wider community
- Be an ethical, respected individual within and outside the school
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with the Principal, Parish Priest or representative, teaching staff, parents, Learning Support staff, the school Counsellor, and the broader community
- Demonstrate good organizational ability and capacity to work effectively in a school environment
- Be competent in monitoring and reporting requirements of CSO and NSCP
- Prioritize the wellbeing of students and families
- Comply with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 (NSW) and related child protection laws
- Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number
- Completion of anaphylaxis training
- Meet NSCP minimum qualification requirements (a Certificate IV in Youth Work or Pastoral Care or equivalent)
Salary is in accordance with Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award 2020.
