At Macquarie University, we are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and vibrant campus environment for our students, staff, visitors, and community. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Campus Security Manager to lead and deliver high-quality, customer-focused security services across our complex multi-site operations.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director, Client Services and Facilities Management, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategies to protect the University's people, physical assets, and reputation. You will manage complex vendor arrangements, oversee integrated security technology systems, and provide empathetic yet authoritative engagement with a diverse range of stakeholders including students, staff, senior executives and external agencies.

You will be a key member of the University's Emergency Management Group, working closely with Group Risk to ensure that physical, personal, and operational risks are effectively identified, mitigated, and managed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of a professional, visible, and customer-oriented security service.
  • Manage large-scale security contracts, ensuring high performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee multi-site security operations and integrated technology solutions including CCTV, access control, and intruder detection.

  • Manage and coach a diverse team to deliver excellence in security and safety outcomes.
  • Oversee significant budgets, ensuring value-for-money and operational efficiency.

About You

You are a highly experienced security professional with a proven track record in multi-site corporate or institutional security management. You combine strong operational leadership with strategic insight and have the interpersonal skills to communicate with empathy, authority, and professionalism. Detail-oriented and service-driven, you thrive in complex environments and have the resilience and judgement to respond effectively to security and emergency situations.

Selection Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in large-scale, complex security operations and contract management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in integrated security technology solutions.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills across all levels of an organisation.
  • Proven budget management and vendor performance oversight experience.
  • Current and relevant security licences, with eligibility to act as the University's Nominated Person on its Master Security Licence.
