Shipping Support Officer - Dangerous Goods at Port Authority of New South Wales — this is a full-time fixed-term contract position until end of June 2026. The role is based at Port Botany, reporting to the Deputy Harbour Master/Manager Compliance and Planning.

The Role
The role involves learning processes involved in the handling and transport of dangerous goods at the commercial ports in NSW and supporting the development and testing of the OnePort Port Management System, especially the dangerous goods module. A period of training will prepare for OnePort testing and development.
Responsibilities
- Ensure OnePort processes meet the requirements of PANSW and external stakeholders
- Documenting the change processes for internal and external audiences, this can include the creation of video or online learning
- Participate in and contribute to meetings, reviews, estimations, providing a test and customer view for comments and suggestions
- Work closely with the Dangerous Goods team and OnePort Delivery to leverage their knowledge and provide constant feedback regarding testing and development to the Dangerous Goods team
- Any other duties as directed by the Manager Compliance and Planning or OnePort test manager.
What you will bring
- Familiarity with Port Operations in a large commercial Port
- Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential
- Relationship management skills to build effective, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and working with all levels throughout the Port Authority
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience assessing technical information and interpreting regulations and standards (desirable)
- Knowledge of Port Authority process and procedure, in particular dangerous goods (desirable)
- Ability to multitask and meet key deadlines.
