About Us
At Treehouse we are creating "innovative families",a living arrangement between trained professionals and children/young people who have experienced trauma neglect or abuse. We work together, with children and young people, encouraging them to begin the process of moving through their trauma. Allowing them a safe space to build rapport, form attachments and feel confident to transition out of survival mode.
We nurture and encourage them to develop their identity and sense of self, fostering their physical, emotional,socialand psychologicalwellbeingto better themselves and their future lives.
The Opportunity
The goal of the Active night Therapeutic Carer is to contribute to the family environment for the children of Treehouse so that they can learn and grow in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment. Working between the hours of2300-0700, you will be responsible for upholding a safe environment.Directly reporting to the House Supervisor, you will support the development of each young person and the running of the household.
Some responsibilities include:
- Work through the night to cover shifts in the placement to ensure consistent care for children and young people.
- Create and maintain a positive therapeutic environment while upholding safety standards for the children and young people in care.
- Follow and implement the young person's case plan, behaviour support plan and cultural plan to address their unique needs and goals.
- Ensure the completion of daily case notes utilising internal case management systems in order to maintain accurate and up to date records of the children and young people in care.
- Where applicable, contribute to the young person's leaving care plan.
- Attend monthly team meetings and supervision in a group and individual setting.
- Communicate, collaborate and liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders involved in the care and support of children and young people.
- Adhere to OOHC regulation acting in accordance with the mandatory reporting guide to ensure the safety and welfare of children and young people.
- Adhere to all relevant medical protocols for children and young people including administering and storage of medication.
- Adhere to Treehouse Innovative Families safety protocols that safeguard both the young people and the team, i.e. hazard and incident reporting.

Selection Criteria/Requirements
- Must be available to work a minimum of 3 Active night shifts per week between the hours of 2300-0700.
- Valid NSW Paid Working with Children Check and National Police Check or being willing and eligible to obtain one prior to commencement.
- Consent to be added to the Residential Care Workers Register
- Valid first aid certificate or willing to obtain within 1 month.
- Valid Australian Drivers Licence¯and access to a vehicle (Our house locations can be outside of public transport routes).
- Attained or working towards a relevantBachelor's Degree, Diploma or CertificateIV(Community Services, Youth/Social Work, etc.)
- Experience working with young people/children.
- Basic knowledge/understanding of trauma (highly regarded)
- Knowledge of the out-of-home-careand residential care system (highly regarded)
- Experience working in other support work related fields, i.e. disability, mental health, aged care and child care.
